Worship is the submission of all our nature to God. It is the quickening of conscience by His holiness; the nourishment of mind with His truth; the purifying of imagination by His beauty; the opening of the heart to His love; the surrender of will to His purpose; and all of this gathered up in adoration. William Temple, Archbishop of Canterbury (1942-44).

                                                Description of Our Services

  SATURDAY WORSHIP:
Holy Eucharist, Rite II 5:00pm “Come as you are” is the  theme of this informal service of Holy Eucharist. Whether from the tennis court, golf course or on your way to a formal dinner dance this Rite II service is a warm and friendly experience from the first welcome to the sermon sharing, sign of peace and final blessing. All baptized Christians are welcome to receive communion. The service is easily followed, using a printed program of worship.

SUNDAY WORSHIP:
8:00 a.m. TRADITIONAL SERVICE, Rite I It is traditional in the Episcopal church to provide a worship opportunity early in the morning with no music. Worship proceeds following a rhythm of the spoken word and silence. It provides ample opportunity for quiet reflection and contemplative prayer. A visitor would be greeted at the door by a parishioner and handed a service bulletin which will lead the worshiper through the liturgy, referencing page numbers from the Book of Common Prayer, which is our worship manual. The Book of Common Prayer is the red book which may be found in the book rack on the back of each pew. The congregation sits in silence until the clergy person enters the sanctuary and invites any of those present wishing private prayer or blessings to come forward. After these prayers any necessary announcements will be made. The congregation stands when the clergy and lay people serving at the altar enter from the sacristy to begin the service. All baptized Christians are welcome to receive Holy Communion. Refreshments follow the service in our Disciples Hall.

10:15 a.m. CHORAL EUCHARIST, Rite II The 10:15 service is a service of Holy Eucharist with the beautiful music, thoughtful preaching and poetic prayers the Episcopal Church is known for. We use the red Book of Common Prayer and hymns are generally found in the blue Hymnal (1982), as well as Lift Every Voice and Sing, found in the rack on the back of each pew and other sources. Hymns are accompanied by organ and choir. The language of prayers in this service is contemporary. Prior to the service there is quiet time for prayer and meditation, as well as an opportunity for private prayer for healing or thanksgiving at the altar. The service is easily followed, using a printed program of worship. All baptized Christians are invited to receive communion, and all are welcome for refreshments and fellowship after the service in our Disciples Hall.

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION: Sept.-May: Nursery care is available during this service for children to age 3. Children in pre-school thru 5th grade may attend Church School which begins at 10am in the chapel. The children will join their parent(s) before communion. Children in grades 6-12 meet from 9-10am for classes in the Journey to Adulthood program.

Our Adult Bible Study meets in the Chapel from 9:10am-10am each Sunday

5:00pm CONTEMPORARY SERVICE: Holy Eucharist  A relaxed, informal service held in Christ Church Disciples Hall. It begins with a pot luck supper and includes prayer, fellowship, Bible study with discussion, and contemporary music. It concludes with the sharing of Holy Communion.

WEEKDAY SERVICES:
Wednesday, 10:00am HEALING SERVICE & HOLY EUCHARIST, Rite I & II (alternating) A spoken Holy Eucharist service that alternates between Rite I and Rite II and which includes the Service of Healing as the first part of the service.  Healing prayers are offered with the laying on of hands and with the anointing of holy oil for those who desire this.
