Healing

From the Book of Common Prayer:

For a Sick Person

Father of mercies and God of all comfort, our only help in the time of need:  We humbly beseech thee to behold, visit, and relieve they sick servant(s) N. for whom our prayers are desired.  Look upon them with thine eyes of mercy; comfort them with a sense of thy goodness; preserve them from the temptations of the enemy; and in thy good time restore them to thy glory; and grant that finally they may dwell with thee in life everlasting; through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.   (BCP, pg. 458)

From Forward Movement Publications:

For Healing

God, who by the might of thy command canst drive away from men’s bodies all sickness and infirmity:  Be present in thy goodness with these thy servants, that their weakness being banished, and their health restored, they may live to glorify thy Holy Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

For Sufferers

Lord, who dost feel the pain of the world, look down upon all sick and suffering persons; enfold them with they love, that in the midst of pain they may find they presence; to doctors and nurses grant tender hearts and healing hands; and give health again in body and soul, for they tender mercy’s sake.  Amen.

For the Seemingly Incurable

Lord, who dost feel the pain of the world; look with mercy, we beseech thee, upon those who in their sickness and suffering are beyond the reach of human skill.  To thee alone belongs the power of life, and these souls are thine.  If in the mystery of thy providence it shall be their lot to bear their infirmity to the end, then, Lord, of thy love give them assurance of they presence with them in it that they may, like their Savior, be made perfect through suffering.  Amen.

Thanksgiving for a Beginning of Recovery

O Lord, your compassions never fail and your mercies are new every morning:  We give you thanks for giving our brother/sister N. both relief from pain and hope of health renewed.  Continue in him/her, we pray, the good work you have begun; that s/he, daily increasing in bodily strength, and rejoicing in your goodness, may so order his/her life and conduct that s/he may always thing and do those things that please you; through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Prayer of St. Francis

Lord, make us instruments of your peace.  Where there is hatred, let us sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where they is discord, union; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy.  Grant that we may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love.  For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.  Amen.
