Our worship services provide many opportunities for
involvement. If you
are interested in participating in any of these ministries,
please contact the church office or speak to any one
of the people already
involved.
Acolytes – assist at Sunday services. All
ages are encouraged to participate.
Altar Guild – assume responsibility for the
care and cleaning of the church’s linens,
vestments and altar
appointments, as well as setting up before and cleaning up after
all
services.
Bagpipers – Free classes are offered at
Christ Church to learn to play bagpipes or drums.
Bell Choir – The bell ringers “ring” for the
Feast Day services of the Church year,
like Christmas and Easter. Bell
choir rehearses on Thursday evenings.
Children’s Bell Choir – rehearses on Sunday
mornings and rings for selected
services throughout
the year.
Children’s Chapel – Sunday School begins at
10 AM with a service led by the
children in the Chapel.
Choir – leads the Sunday and special choral
celebrations of the parish. Rehearsals
are held on Thursday evenings
September to May. During the summer, the choir rehearses on Sunday
mornings.
Eucharistic Ministers – licensed by the
Bishop to distribute Holy Communion during services.
Eucharistic Visitors – licensed by the
Bishop to take the Sacrament of Holy
Communion to shut-ins. They are
sent out from the altar at the end of the service.
Kite Flyers – We carry processional kites at
special services throughout the year.
Lectors – read the first and second readings
at our weekend services.
Oblation Bearers – represent the whole
congregation at the Offertory as they bring
forward the bread and wine
to be offered for the Holy Eucharist.
Prayer Ministries
International Order of
St. Luke the Physician – the healing ministry
organization of the
Episcopal Church.
Labyrinth – a
prayer walk. We have a portable indoor one and we are
developing a
permanent outdoor walk.
Meditation Garden – a
quiet area for private prayer located near the back of
the church
property.
Prayer Group – meets
on Monday evenings to pray for all those on the
prayer list and for
other needs.
Prayer Chain – a telephone chain
of volunteers who are at the ready to pray
for urgent prayer
requests.They also pray for those on the
prayer list.
Ushers – greet worshippers, distribute
worship leaflets, provide assistance and help with the
offering.
Vergers – walk before the clergy as they
proceed within the Church while carrying a “verge.” They assist clergy
in overseeing preparations for each service.
